Expectations

In our e-mail to all our foreign friends (yes, even British people are foreign to us Dutch people ;-) ) we said we might consider writing in English. Since then we have had massive pleading. So I suggested we might take turns. And of course that leaves an obligation to be the first to do so.
First I  have to manage your expectations: although we both are quite proficient in English, it is not our mother tongue and we won't write in English every time.
So where are we on this 1st of January in 2015. We are full of oliebollen and appelflappen, the pastries Dutch eat at New Years Eve. We also are trying to figure out how to meet the ridiculous baggage allowance. Thirty kg seems generous enough, but if you consider this is bikes and transportboxes (17+6 kg) included, you realise it is quite the challenge!
We bought a new tent, same size but half the weight, only 1.9 kg all in, that helps.
We decided to only take one sleeping bag and a silk sheet sleeping bag instead of 2 duvet sleeping bags, should suffice in summer....another 1 kg
Annemarie has already cut all the wash tags from her clothing, saving a mere 8 grams, just enough to maybe take the good lucky doll a friend sent in the mail. Furthermore we discussed buying huge golf bags. For those who did not know, golfers can bring sports gear on top of their baggage allowance..we are just a tad frustrated about that.
So for now it is packing and repacking, and of course we will look like Michelin girls during the flight, wearing all our clothes. A bit like the lady on the photo.
